Kent College Canterbury

Our Library consists of around 20,000 constantly updated books, numerous subscriptions to magazines, daily newspapers, music CDs, audio-books and around 1,000 DVDs.  New stock is constantly being added and all suggestions for new resources are considered and acted upon. The Library also subscribes to a number of online resources that are accessible to all students through the school’s VLE.

The Library is staffed by a professionally trained Librarian and a part-time Assistant. Sixth Form Prefects help with the running of the Library at morning break and lunchtime.

The Library is open to all students from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday but it turns into a study area for Year 12 students who are timetabled there whenever they do not have a lesson.

The role of Kent College Library, in partnership with the teaching staff, is to provide an active and stimulating information resource to enhance learning and we aim to:

-    support and enhance the curriculum

-    encourage Library use in all learning activities

-    support and develop information handling skills

-    make available a wide range of centrally held and recorded information resources.
