Kent College Canterbury

HMODIt is often said that Kent College is one school in two locations. The Senior School was founded in the 19th century and the principles and policies that have been developed there over the decades are now fully reflected at the Junior School. Both schools have always enjoyed the reputation of being particularly friendly and welcoming. This is a tradition the schools are very anxious to maintain and strengthen, so a clearly articulated Mission Statement and a widely circulated set of [DOC]aims and values-http://kentcollege.com/userfiles/file/value_statement.pdf[/DOC] are important elements in pursuing this goal.
They are, by definition, statements of the ideal, but they are most certainly not just a set of pious platitudes. They guide and influence decision-making at the two schools and the way they set priorities, both for individual pupils and for the long term health and development of the schools themselves.

MISSION STATEMENT

Kent College aims to:

  • Be a caring Christian family community, committed to the development of the full potential of each individual.
  • Maintain high educational standards in all academic, cultural and sporting activities, stimulating excitement in learning and requiring discipline in study whatever the ability of the child.
  • Work with and in the communities it serves.
  • Worship as Christians in the Methodist tradition and uphold Christian values in practice as well as in theory, whilst welcoming members of other faiths (and none) in a spirit of openness and tolerance; and to make religious education a strong feature of the curriculum.
  • Encourage pupils in a critical examination of the standards and values current in society and to discover and develop a personal faith to guide them throughout their lives.
