Kent College Canterbury

HMOD
A feature of recent years at the Kent College Junior School has been the explosion of interest in dance and the performing arts.
This is no accident. Dance has been one of Man’s most joyous forms of self expression across the centuries and the pleasure of moving together in harmony is one that our children have taken to with relish. The regular performances show the enthusiasm and drive have which have lead to a series of outstanding achievements. Kent College nurtures and develops talents in each individual.

Expressive Arts forms a part of the curriculum with all children enjoying the opportunity of a weekly lesson. Again, the link with the Senior School is important as so many of the dance shows in which our children participate are joint activities with the older pupils, some of whom write routines for the young dancers.

The joint ’Joy to the World’ concert immediately before Christmas is always a great favourite with parents and children alike.  Our recent production of The Pirates of the Curry Bean saw the children excel in all areas of performing arts.

Dance features strongly in the Arts Week held in the Spring Term, and this year our children were fascinated to be taught in the skills of ‘Bollywood’ style dancing. Our Charity shows are also a regular showcase for our dancing talent.
