Kent College Canterbury

HMOD

Key stage one refers to year one (5-6yrs) and two (6-7yrs) and is an exciting transition from Foundation Stage (nursery and reception).

Our action packed days ensure our children have stimulating and exciting learning opportunities. Our children thrive on the daily personal, social, emotional, physical and academic curriculum we offer.

We are a dedicated and talented staff who build a strong relationship with each individual child due to our small class size and superb team-work. This includes our teaching assistants and specialist staff.

A typical week at Kent College in year one and two can begin at 8am with a calm, nurturing early care service until 8.30am. The adventure continues with a dynamic delivery of the core subjects; English, maths, ICT and MFL (French). In addition the foundation subjects; history, geography, science, art and design, PE, expressive arts, RE and PSHE (Personal and social health education).

But this is only the tip of the iceberg.....

A variety of extra curricular activities are on offer daily from 4pm to 5pm which can include; athletics, choir, art and craft, board games, country dancing, number time, cookery, drama, construction, dinosaurs, story time. Our list is endless and changes termly.

Following an exciting club of choice, we offer a quality late care service where children have the opportunity to sit together and share a healthy tea in a relaxing environment with caring qualified staff.

You only have to walk around our classrooms to see how the colour and vibrancy reflects the childrens high standard of learning. Our learning continues beyond the classroom where our wonderful outdoor environment offers a vast array of opportunities, these include; tennis courts, swimming pool, wooden play equipment, nature on the doorstep and amazing grounds in which to play.

Due to our small class sizes, it is easy for us to enrich the delivery of our curriculum through field trips workshops and visits using our school minibus.
